The PostgreSQL community event around FOSDEM is getting bigger. FOSDEM PGDay 2027 will take place on January 28 and 29 at the Brussels Marriott Hotel Grand Place, expanding from its usual single day to two full days of PostgreSQL talks. The event is positioned as the start of the FOSDEM trip: dedicated PostgreSQL content during the week, followed by the main FOSDEM event over the weekend. Organizers say the extra day means more PostgreSQL talks and more time to connect with fellow enthusiasts from around the world.
Two calls are now open for the 2027 edition:
- Sponsorship (new for 2027): for the first time, FOSDEM PGDay offers sponsorship packages at Platinum, Gold and Silver levels. Platinum and Gold include an exhibition desk and a sponsor-track talk, giving vendors a direct way to reach the PostgreSQL audience.
- Call for Papers: talk submissions are open now. Sessions run 45 minutes, followed by time for questions, and must be presented in English. Selected speakers receive free admission to the conference.
- Submission deadline: proposals are due by 2026-12-01 23:59:59 CET.
- Location and dates: January 28–29, 2027, Brussels Marriott Hotel Grand Place, immediately ahead of the main FOSDEM weekend.
For developers, the expanded format is a chance to go deeper than a single day allows — whether that means attending more sessions on internals, extensions, performance and operations, or meeting maintainers and contributors in person. The new sponsor track also signals that the event is maturing, potentially bringing more vendor-neutral technical content and exhibition space alongside the talks.
